Pedrosa top once again in rain-hit final MotoGP™ practice

In similar conditions to yesterday´s rain-affected session, Repsol Honda´s Dani Pedrosa led the final MotoGP™ free practice this morning ahead of compatriot Jorge Lorenzo.

There was plenty of action out on track this morning with many riders undertaking long runs to test the longevity of the Bridgestone wet tyres, with a wet race forecast for tomorrow.
Pedrosa´s time of 1.50´121 put him ahead of Yamaha Factory Racing´s Lorenzo by just over a tenth, who displaced reigning World Champion Casey Stoner onboard his Repsol Honda into third. Stoner set his fast time within a handful of laps, after which he sat out the rest of the practice in the pits.
Fourth spot was occupied by Ducati Team´s Nicky Hayden, in front of Monster Yamaha Tech3´s Britain Cal Crutchlow, who looked to be rediscovering some of his Qatar form.
Valentino Rossi could not repeat his second place of the previous session, yet still managed to put his Ducati in front of Crutchlow´s team mate Andrea Dovizioso on his satellite Yamaha in seventh.
The final three spots were occupied by LCR Honda MotoGP´s Stefan Bradl, Cardion AB Motoracing´s Karl Abraham and Power Electronics Aspar´s CRT rider Randy de Puniet, who has looked strong in both wet practices.
As the rain got worse towards the end, track conditions caught out San Carlo Honda Gresini´s Álvaro Bautista who crashed going into turn one. Fortunately he walked away unscathed, yet did not head out again on his spare bike.
With many riders showing their potential form for qualifying, a question mark still remains over how the wet tyres would fare in a full race, as many riders looked to have worn them down significantly in a matter of around 15 laps. Hence tyre conservation, instead of out-and-out speed could be the key should the weather remain the same.
